Monthly EXALTED RULER'S MESSAGE

———————————

Hello Elk Family!

What a tremendous autumn we’ve been having. October was filled with great
weather and memories.
Celebrate Wallingford had some of the sunniest days we’ve seen in a while;
and boy did it show!!! Both our Elks Food Tent and our Drug Awareness Program
Booth saw hundreds of faces each day. Our Drug Awareness Committee
hosted another successful “Win a Ride to School in a Police Car” Raffle. Elroy
made appearances both days and worked the crowd! Our food tent tried new
menu items, to great success, but who wouldn’t want some fried Oreos! A
TREMENDOUS THANK YOU to all involved. It is quite the undertaking many
hands make light work. Big shout out goes to Rich Foley who has spearheaded
our Taste of Walling/Celebrate Wallingford efforts for years and always
does such a terrific job.
The Kids’ and Adults’ Halloween parties were spook-tacular! We showcased
lots of fabulous outfits, the kids decorated pumpkins, and trunk-or-treated
through our parking lot. The Adults’ Party had us Monster Mashing into the
night with some great costume winners!!! Thank you to Paula Testa for organizing
such a fun evening!!
Thank you to all who came out for the Lodge Clean-up and tent removal!
We have another busy month in November. The Drug Awareness Committee
is hosting an 80’s Night on November 9th – be sure to get your tickets and
80’s garb ready! November 10th is our Lodge Hoop Shoot at Parks & Rec. and
is free and open to all area children aged 8 - 13. Set-up will be at 8 a.m., registration
at 8:30, and the contest will begin at 9:00 a.m. Please reach out if
you would like to volunteer. Our Veterans Appreciation Breakfast is Sunday,
November 10 from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. and is open to all to attend. Veterans
are complimentary. Pat Foley is hosting an NFL Tailgate on Sunday, November
10. The Giants game will be played in our parking lot and Pat will be serving
up a Stadium Sized Buffet!! Tickets are available with the Steward on Duty.
Craft Fair ALERT!! Our Craft Fair will be held on Sunday, November 24, from 9
– 4 p.m. Perfect for your holiday shopping needs! If you are interested in having
a booth, please contact Lori at twin960@yahoo.com by November 10th.
We are coordinating efforts with the Sister’s Project for No-Shave November –
raising awareness to those battling cancer while raising funds for all the
amazing work and support the Sisters provide to our community. Founded in
2010, the Sisters have assisted innumerable Wallingford families battling the
hardships associated with cancer, they provide scholarships, funded projects
and programs at Masonicare Hospice of Wallingford, and so much more. I am
raising money, per inch of my hair, and will be shaving my head on November
30th!! We welcome others to join in by pledging to not shave (open to ladies
and men) for the month of November. Grab a pledge sheet
from behind the bar and help us raise some money for our
neighbors in need.

Keep an eye out for these upcoming events: Annual Turkey
Shoot (Saturday, November 23) and the Memorial Service (Sunday, December
1).

Fraternally,
Anne Marie Ortolan
Exalted Ruler
